That's it, people.
Good job overall - although a couple of groups might need to rethink their topic.
More detailed comments in class tomorrow.
Cheers,

Welcome to the Public Sphere
The public sphere is an open forum where free and open discussion takes place and where participants, regardless of their status in society, have equal standing. The aim of this blog is to give us the chance to post our thoughts, debate our points of view and see if we can arrive at a consensus on certain issues. We have equal standing - any point of view, regardless of whose it is, should be assessed only on its merits. As we express our ideas and consider those of our friends, we will - hopefully - learn to clarify our opinions, recognise weaknesses in our arguments, defend our positions and, equally importantly, appreciate the perspectives of others.
When you begin, confine your posts to your group's page. Look for your group's topic and post your thoughts there. When you feel you have contributed sufficiently to the discussion, you may start posting comments on other groups' pages.
Before you start, please note the following:
1) You need a Google account to do this.
2) Be sure to clearly identify yourself in each post.
3) While I prefer not to specify the number of posts each student should make, I do expect that each of you will make an effort to contribute significantly. If you need a guideline, I suggest you make a minimum of five posts of reasonable length. Of course, if each of your posts is long and you feel you have satisfactorily communicated your ideas, you may make fewer than five.
4) Groups start their own discussions by posting an opinion on any aspect of their topic.
5) Groups are NOT required to arrive at a collective opinion at the end of this exercise. That will only need to be done for the Discussion Cafe.
6) Any comments posted after 2359hrs, Monday, 5 Nov 2007, will not be assessed.
7) Should you run into any kind of difficulty, email me or call 6235 3535 for assistance.
